Vickiy VanBeek is a district team coach with the Washington State Leadership Academy. Having retired from Kennewick School District in July 2013, her diverse and rewarding educational career has spanned over 30 years.
Southgate Elementary in Kennewick served as a starting and ending point for Vickiy’s traditional career in education as she began there as a first grade teacher finished there as the principal. The years in between included such roles as a reading specialist, an ESD and district director of professional development, curriculum faculty and Masters in Teaching coordinator at Washington State University Tri-Cities, and a middle school principal.
Vickiy actively participated in the Teacher Principal Evaluation (TPEP) Project as an evaluator, evaluatee, and AWSP trainer. She has extensive GLAD and PLC training and experiences. She has been an active member of both AWSP and SEWASA throughout her career, and was honored with a SEWASA/Region 123 Student Achievement Leadership Award in 2008.
Vickiy earned her bachelor’s degree in education from the University of Wyoming and her master’s degree from Central Washington University. She looks forward to working in partnership with district teams to identify successes, goals, challenges, obstacles, and collaboratively plan appropriate actions.
