On September 22, eight districts in the ESD 101 region will officially launch the start of the 2015 WSLA program. These districts are participating in the Year 2 Cohort and include Chewelah, Columbia-Hunter, Curlew, Davenport, East Valley, Reardan-Edwall, Ritzville-Lind, and Tekoa. Lead by WSLA Instructors Alison Olzendam and Carol Whitehead, all teams will refine their district efforts to address the statewide problem of practice:
How can we create and lead a system that ensures effective instruction for all students, integrates multiple initiatives; i.e., Common Core, TPEP, Smarter Balanced…and results in sustained high levels of learning?
The other second-year districts come from the ESD 113 region and the group’s first workshop is slated for October 21 and will include ESD 113, Onalaska, Rochester, Southside, Tenino, and Toledo. Recent program graduate Eatonville will join this group to further develop the district’s theory of action as a third-year participant. The WSLA Instructors for ESD 113 are Glenys Hill and Mickey Lahmann.
Districts participating in Year 1 of the program include Clover Park, Orting, and Peninsula from ESD 121. The WSLA Instructors for this region include Sharon Bower and Janice Watson. Completing the list of participants for the 2015-16 year are Granite Falls and South Whidbey from ESD 189 with WSLA Instructors Sharon Bower and Patsy Guglielmino.
